HONOLULU – Since the Safe Travels digital platform was officially launched on Sept. 1, 2020, it has welcomed more than 5.7 million travelers – both visitors and residents. This is good news for Hawaii’s plan in reopening of the economy.  Safe Travels has been able to assist in the rapid recovery of tourism, allowing the Hawaii’s Council of Revenues to revise its economic forecast from loss of 2.5% to growth of 5.0% for 2021.

Since the Vaccine Exemption Program was implemented, more than 400-thousand travelers have been able to use their vaccine documents to bypass quarantine.  More than 4 million travelers have used the pre-travel testing program to be able to roam freely while in Hawaii or returning home.

With the Hawaiian Islands considered the top destination during the summer, Safe Travels is assisting the State in preventing the spread of COVDI-19. Hawaii holds the lowest infection rate in the nation at 2,800/100,000 people.
