ETS Recognized for National Awards

ETS and our staff members have been recognized for several national awards.

At the Office of Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) we don’t often “toot our own horn.”

ETS works mostly in the background to provide governance for executive branch IT projects and seeks to identify, prioritize and advance innovative initiatives with the greatest potential to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve transparency and accountability in state government.

ETS also supports the management and operation of all state agencies by providing effective, efficient, coordinated and cost-beneficial computer and telecommunication services so that state program objectives can be achieved.

Our work is critical in the age of information technology, but not many people even know this office exists and our accomplishments rarely make media headlines.

But in the last few years ETS and our staff members have been recognized for several national awards.

Recent awards include:

  • Tanium Cybersecurity Industry Edge Award 2020
  • NASCIO Cybersecurity Project of the Year 2023
  • Google Customer Award – Safe Travels 2022
  • GOVX Summit 2022 Finalist – Customer Experience
  • GOVX Future Ready Award 2022
  • StateScoop Government Executive of the Year – Doug Murdock 2022
  • Center for Technology Excellence Award – Doug Murdock 2023

“These awards are the result of the hard work done by the ETS staff,” said Hawaii Chief Information Officer Doug Murdock. “I’m grateful and honored to be leading this office.”

Also in 2022, Hawaii’s grade in the Digital States Survey was raised from B+ to A-.

The Center for Digital Government runs the biennial survey as an evaluation of the information technology practices of all 50 states.

The survey evaluates states’ use of technology to improve service delivery, increase capacity, streamline operations, and reach state priorities and assigns a letter grade based on quantifiable results.

At ETS we are very thankful for the awards recognition and will continue to do the work needed to make Hawaii’s technology services and online security the best we can.
