|GENERAL||What is Safe Travels?||Safe Travels is a mandatory online digital form all travelers within or entering the State of Hawaii must complete. It collects travel and health information in order to protect the health and safety of visitors and residents alike.|
|GENERAL||When do I use the Safe Travels digital form?||To expedite the arrival process, travelers are highly encouraged to fill out the online mandatory Travel and Health Questionnaire within 24 hours before departure.|
|GENERAL||Does everyone have to use the Safe Travels digital form?||Yes, every traveling adult needs to create an account in the Safe Travels digital form. The mandatory information gathered in the application will be needed for the airport verification process, which includes a Travel and Health Questionnaire and Quarantine Order.|
|GENERAL||Why do I have to use the Safe Travels digital form to go to Hawaii?||The information provided in the digital form is needed to protect the health and safety of everyone during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is being collected to help the Department of Health and Department of the Attorney General to keep us all safe. This digital form is one part of a multi-layered screening process, which includes arrival temperature checks and secondary screening for those with symptoms or temperatures of 100.4 degrees or higher. The platform will provide the State Department of Health (DOH) access to the mandatory health information that passengers need to provide to monitor and protect public health. It can also be used by the Dept. of the Attorney General and county law enforcement officials to enforce quarantine rules.|
|GENERAL||Do children need to use the Safe Travels digital form?||Children need to be added as travel party members under an adult account.|
|GENERAL||What if I refuse to use the digital form?||The Governor’s Emergency Proclamation provides the legal authority for the government to require a Quarantine Order to be signed. The Quarantine Order will become available to you after you go through the health verification process in the Safe Travels digital platform. Upon arrival at the airport in Hawaii, the QR code is displayed for the screener where you will read, sign, and accept the Quarantine Order. Passengers who refuse any part of the airport verification process will be directed to law enforcement officers. Passengers will have the option of returning on the next flight back to the airport from which they came, or they will be directed to law enforcement.|

|HEALTH QUESTIONS||Can the Health Questionnaire be filled out in advance?||The Health Questionnaire is available on the Safe Travels platform and is only available 24 hours before departure.|
|ACCOUNT/PASSWORD||What if I don't have an email account?||Travelers who do not have an email account can sign up for a free email account online, such as Google Mail or Outlook.|
An email account is required to comply with the terms of quarantine.
|ACCOUNT/PASSWORD||Can I create a Safe Travels account in advance?||Yes, you should create your Safe Travels account and enter your information in advance to save time once you land and go through the arrival screening process. Please note: The Health Questionnaire is only available to be filled in no more than 24 hours in advance.|
|ACCOUNT/PASSWORD||What if I forget my password?||There is a "Forgot Password" option on the Traveler login screen found on travel.hawaii.gov that will send a Password Reset Link to the email you provided when you created your account|

When I tried to make an account, it says my email account has already been used.
|If it is already being used, that means you may have initially created the account either manually (in which you set a password), or created the account using one of the single sign on options (Google or Facebook).|
You will have to remember if you already created an account or used Google or Facebook to login initially.
|AIRPORT SCREENING||How are airline passengers in Hawai'i screened upon arrival?||All arriving passengers from domestic or international airports will be given a Department of Agriculture declaration form to fill out en route to Hawaii. This form will be collected by the flight crew prior to landing.|
Upon landing, all passengers will have their temperature taken as they exit the plane to determine if they have a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Those without an elevated temperature will proceed to the passenger verification stations where airport representatives will scan the passengers and travel party member's QR code, verify COVID-19 test result, verify identification of all adult passengers, verify the mobile phone number provided (if pre-verification by the passenger did not occur), and confirm lodging. The hotel will be called to confirm the passenger has a reservation. When all the information is verified, the passenger will be processed and allowed to leave the airport. Passengers without a negative COVID-19 test or other exemption will sign the Quarantine Order, acknowledging they are aware of the traveler quarantine measures.
|GENERAL||What happens if I refuse to provide the information or do not comply with the process?||Passengers who refuse any part of the airport verification process will be directed to law enforcement officers. Passengers will have the option of returning on the next flight back to the airport from which they came, or they will be directed to law enforcement.|
|GENERAL||Is this form available on paper to fill out? To download? At departing airport? At arrival airport?||There is no paper form to fill out. Travelers should use the Safe Travels app to complete their Profile, Trips, and Health Questionnaire to obtain a QR code.|

|NOTIFICATIONS||What are the different notifications and what do they do||Once you complete the online travel forms, you will receive a reminder email, notifying you to enter your health information no sooner than 24 hours before departure.|
If you are in quarantine, you will receive an email the day after you arrive in Hawaii, reminding you to do your daily quarantine check-in. You will receive these emails daily for 9 days or the duration of your trip, whichever is shorter.
Hawaii residents traveling to Oahu will not be subject to quarantine.
|NOTIFICATIONS||How does the text messaging for daily quarantine check-in notification work?||You will need to opt-in to the daily text messaging feature. You will also receive an email to remind you to check in.|
|NOTIFICATIONS||Can I select text messages instead of email?||There is no option to turn off email notifications in the Safe Travels app. The ability to "Opt-in/Opt-out" for SMS/Text messaging is available.|
|QR CODE||My QR Code did not arrive. What next?||If you did not receive the QR code in your email, check your junk mail.|
Also, the QR code will be available in the Travel App under Trips, then Trip Details, but only after completing the Health Questionnaire. *Please note: The Health Questionnaire is only available within 24 hours of your flight departure.
|CELL PHONE /COMPUTER||I am from another country. Will my smartphone work in Hawaii for quarantine checks?||Please check with your mobile carrier for international call, text, and data services. Travelers can login to travel.hawaii.gov from a computer to complete the daily check-ins.|
|CELL PHONE /COMPUTER||What if I cannot use the Safe Travels online from my phone or computer||The airports will have mobile devices available for you to use to create a Safe Travels account. Please note: This process will take longer to get through the screening process once you land.|
|CELL PHONE /COMPUTER||What if my cell phone doesn’t have texting capability or I don’t want to use my personal cell phone?||You are required to enter a primary contact phone number within your traveler profile. Text messaging is completely optional, and you have the opportunity to opt-in for text message alerts and reminder regarding your travel and mandatory quarantine. Verifying your primary contact phone number prior to travel and using the in-app SMS verification process, will allow for quicker processing when you arrive at your Hawaii airport.|
|CELL PHONE /COMPUTER||What if I do not have internet access in Hawaii||Having the ability to complete a “Profile” and “Trips” using the Safe Travels app is a requirement for the 10-day quarantine. Travelers will be required to fill out a daily check-in during their stay in Hawaii.|
|CELL PHONE /COMPUTER||What if I don't have a mobile device, how will I do my daily check-ins?||Having the ability to complete a Profile and Trips using the Safe Travels app is a requirement for the 10-day quarantine. Travelers will be required to fill out a daily check-in during their stay in Hawaii. Travelers can access the Safe Travels app through any computer by going to travel.hawaii.gov|
|CELL PHONE /COMPUTER||What data is being stored by the digital platform? How will the information be used?||The Safe Travels digital platform stores the traveler’s profile, trip, health status, and quarantine information. The platform will provide the State Department of Health (DOH) access to the mandatory health information that passengers need to provide to monitor and protect public health. Certain non-health information can also be used by the State Attorney General and county law enforcement officials to enforce the quarantine rules. The information will otherwise be kept confidential.|

Calls outside of working hours will go to voicemail and be returned the next business day.
